WELLNESS
Leaving healthier than when you arrived is one of our goals. Wellness is an integral part of permaculture. Efforts each year go into creating a series of interactive workshops that support us as we create and sustain healthy habits in our lives, past praxis. Enjoy yourself, eat well, get in tune with your body and make some intentions while participating in this amazing series - July 3rd-5th
Yin Yoga - Greet the day by stretching your limbs & lengthening your spine. You'll be led through pranayama (breathwork) and guided asana flows to prep your sacred vessel for the day ahead and the evenings of dance. Lead by Kaia, who has been practicing yoga for 28 yrs and instructing since 2003; as well as participating in Praxis since its inception in 2017. Trained in the Sivananda lineage, Kaia will help you access both strength and relaxation in these guided sessions in the workshop dome. Please bring a yoga mat and water bottle.
Plant your Seeds Ceremony- In this ceremony you will experience deep guided breathwork, meditation/journeying and soundbath (Drum & bowls), and ecstatic dance, to connect with your higher self, your dreams, and the forest/land. 90mins ALL AGES WELCOME Lead by Mel https://linktr.ee/melissabinfante What to bring: You may need a Yoga mat, pillow/blanket, journal pen, water bottle
Spirit Led Healing – Sound bath – I combine the gentle, spiritual guided energy of Holy Fire Reiki with the healing vibration of sound. The frequencies created by instruments such as singing bowls, gongs, and chimes help quiet the mind, calm the nervous system, and create a space where the body can rest and restore. At the same time Holy Fire Reiki supports healing on an energetic level, flowing where it's needed most. Together these modalities create a deeply restorative experience that encourages balance, inner peace, and a renewed connection to oneself. Lead by Heidi
Guided Imagery and Music (GIM) is a process of listening deeply to music. The imagery appears as sensations, emotions, memories, visual images or images that you draw as you listen. The deeper you listen to the music, the deeper you listen to your Self. The closer you get to your Self and your images the more you can feel into your inner resources and access your vitality. Come join me with your curiosity and open to yourself and to music. Christine Routhier, she/her, from Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA; Music Psychotherapist.
Kombucha for kids.. and adults – In this one-hour, hands-on kombucha workshop, you'll taste before you learn, pass around a live SCOBY, and get your hands into the fermentation process alongside a craft kombucha producer. The heart of the session is a hands-on flavoring and bottling experience — you'll flavor your own bottle of kombucha using a spread of flavoring ingredients, including some fresh fruits, berries, and herbs sourced right from the festival's permaculture farm, then seal and label it to take home and finish carbonating over the next couple of days. You'll also leave with a second jar containing a live SCOBY and starter liquid, plus a printed instruction card so you can brew your very first batch from scratch at home. Youth-friendly and beginner-welcoming — no experience needed, just curiosity. Lead by: Danielle Black - She/Her – Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada; founder of Floko Kombucha
Restorative Yoga – this is a beginner level, restorative movement workshop focusing on the breath, and slow and grounding movements to release the toxicities in the body and to relax your being. Lead by Seven from knowlesville, “i'm in service for love & Nature , i make music of love, i try to help my brothers and sisters raise their love energies.”
Introduction to massage – In just 2 hours, my goal for this workshop is to give you more tools to support your friends and family through the art of massages, while being mindful of your own body. After a brief introduction and a demonstration, the main part of the workshop will be a hands-on experience where you will be able to learn and practice a wide variety of techniques. Lead by Sarah-Maude – trained in Swedish massage

PERMACULTURE
Wow, have we got a few special lessons lined up for you this year in our living laboratory of a site. Praxis is a permaculture project all in itself, so just attending the event you will see passive and overlapping systems in situ. But still check out these in depth offerings this year as they unfold in our schedule.
Composting with the soil food web – This workshop explores the hidden world of living soil and the microorganisms that sustain healthy ecosystems. Participants will learn the fundamentals of soil microbiology, compost ecology, nutrient cycling, and the soil food web through a practical and accessible lens. The session connects regenerative agriculture, composting systems, and ecological stewardship while demonstrating how microbes influence plant vitality, carbon sequestration, water retention, and long-term soil fertility. Attendees will leave with a deeper understanding of how to work with biology rather than against it, whether in gardens, farms, restoration projects, or community spaces. Lead by: Chad Dewtie from Inoculum Bio-Solutions
A Comprehensive Introduction to Mushroom Identification – This talk starts with a thorough discussion of the physical features we look at to identify mushrooms. They are then reinforced by looking at how they vary in all the major groups of fungi you'll see out in the woods. This is followed with some exploration of how AI can be used as a shortcut out in the field. (60-75 mins) lead by Gary Gilbert from the Boston Mycological Association.
Praxis Project Site Tours – Join Zack Drost and J. Alex Murray as they walk the Praxis Project Site over the weekend, describing and showcasing the multifunctional elements the landscape has developed over the years. Learn about successes and failures, the future plans and recent changes, and how they are influenced by permaculture design. Eat from the haskaps berries and see the fruit engorging as you enjoy dappled shade of the successful guilds.
Introduction to Permaculture in Cold Climates – Learn about what Permaculture is in this 3h multi-fauceted class. The design process, and the tools used to help make designs in colder and more temperature climates like ours in the atlantic provinces. Laugh through some simple permy games and get your hands in the soil to learn through textures and smells. Open your mind to the soil food web and catch some ideas about mapping your designs. Lead by J.Alexander Murray, co-founder of Praxis Project NB, and Zack Drost, who both recently finished a PDC course through the Soil Food Web and the Permaculture Association of North America.
Cooking Class for Kids (Knife Skills & Sauce Making) – Kids will learn real knife skills: how to hold a knife, cut safely, and build confidence in the kitchen. These are skills they'll use for years, not just one afternoon. We'll start with the safety basics, then put those skills right to work, chopping fresh local veggies into a few different salads.
In the second half, we'll get into salad dressings: learning the basics of balancing flavours like salty, sour, sweet, and acidic, and a few simple recipes you can mix and match in endless ways. By the end, kids will walk away with real kitchen skills, plus a few salads and dressings they can make again at home. No experience needed, just curiosity. Ages 8 and up. Lead by Justin; a chef, food educator, and lifelong food systems nerd. Chefjustinandrews.ca

Beyond the Secret Life of Trees, the Mushroom's Side of the Story - This talk is about how mushrooms function in the ecosystem from their role as decayers to their essential functioning as symbiotic nutrient providers. We will discuss the "Woodwide Web" and how fungi create complex networks within the soil and between trees and plants of the forest. It ends with some discussion of how you may use fungi as the ultimate in natural fertilizers and soil partners. Lead by Gary Gilbert; Executive Committee of the Boston Mycological Association.
MICROBE CIRCUS: Healthy soil is not dirt — A living ecosystem composed of bacteria, fungi, protozoa, nematodes, arthropods, organic matter, minerals, water, and air interacting in complex relationships. This workshop introduces participants to the biology of soil with a microscope, through the lens of regenerative agriculture and ecological systems thinking. Lead by: Chad Dewtie; a regenerative agriculture educator, compost practitioner, and founder of Inoculum Bio-Solutions

REIMAGINING BIRTHWORK CULTURE TOGETHER
What a precious moment, in such a family oriented festive environment, to offer such a treasured series of lessons. Such tender and authentic moments are shared when we talk about birthing and the work that goes into living through this force of nature. We really hope that you enjoy this container of workshops / discussions we offer in this unique series…
Birthwork Questions – The space I am trying to create is one where folx can come with any birth- or birthwork-related questions, talk about their experiences with birth culture, and strategize ways we can co-create liberatory birthwork and reproductive justice in our communities. I am hoping to promote connection, reflection and imagination. Bring your questions, frustrations, observations and hopes for birth culture. Let's examine the birth culture we live in and imagine what could be different. No prior knowledge is required. You are welcome to engage through speaking, writing, drawing, or simply being present in the space with us. Lead by Jem Deguire – regulated midwife and supporter of pregnant people and birthworkers. IG @jems.field.notes
Birth Sharing Circle – Birth Circle is a facilitated community gathering that creates space for meaningful conversations about pregnancy, birth, postpartum, breastfeeding, and the transition into parenthood. Through guided discussion, shared experiences, practical education, and peer support, participants are invited to explore topics such as birth preparation, informed decision-making, physiological birth, postpartum recovery, infant feeding, family dynamics, and building confidence throughout the childbearing years. Drawing on 17 years of experience supporting women and families, Julie Lynn brings a balanced approach that values both evidence-informed education and lived experience. Whether participants are preparing for their first birth, growing their family, or seeking connection with others on a similar path, Birth Circle offers a welcoming environment for learning, reflection, and community. https://www.facebook.com/skedaddleridgehomestead
Herbs for Pregnancy and Post Partume – Join Munna for an introductory workshop on using herbs during pregnancy and postpartum. You will learn about safety, internal and external preparations, nourishing herbs, therapeutic uses, and more! Munna Cleland is an herbalist and educator with over 15 years of training and experience. https://linktr.ee/radicle_root_herbs

MEAT PRESERVATION
Another new series to the Praxis Project, we are thrilled to touch on this important topic. Join us for this short workshop series we have lined up between July 3rd-5th as we edge into the conversation around how animals are a part of natural system and human culture. Integrated with civilization all over the globe animal care and thus meat preservation is part of nearly every culture. Even though we are a vegan festival, we feel the need to shine on this topic, broadening the conversation around earth care, people care and fair share.
Homesteading with Meat Animals – Join Sparrow and Hazen of Fairlight Farm for a discussion about the many elements of homesteading with meat animals. Ethics, a variety of animals and their place on a homestead, animal care, meat animals in permaculture systems, and more. Introduction to DRUM MACHINES - Auntie Molly is excited to bring you a drum machine, the Roland TR8s. This top notch unit will show you how any 808 style drum machines work. Knowledge that will travel back and forth between hardware and software drum machines. We will have a good hands on session, focused on fun and basics!

Introduction to STEMS - Auntie Molly is going to be delivering a clinic on STEMS within the DJ world. A little introduction on what they are, how to get them, and how to use them in a fun way! For the uninitiated, a stem is one component of a song such as the drums or the bass. Current technology allows us to create these stems from existing songs, allowing us to break a song back into its component elements. When we use this in djing, we open up the idea of easy mashups and really interesting transitions.

Introduction to ABLETON LIVE - Discover the creative process behind your own musical productions using Ableton Live Basics. This session will guide you through essential tools and techniques to unleash your sound. Learn from DJ Honeey Mustard herself.
Introduction to DIGERIDOOS - A hands-on introduction to one of the world's oldest instruments. ** enough instruments for everyone to play ** — no experience necessary, no prior musical background assumed. The focus is on getting sound out of the thing, understanding circular breathing as a concept, and having a good time doing it. Lead by Ryan
Introduction to guitars – Lead by Michael Dougherty – I was asked by Alex if I could lead a beginner guitar class, I will start out with sharing my guitar journey and some things I’ve learned along the way. Next I will explain the layout of the guitar, showing the foundational chords, and play a few songs with those chord shapes as a demonstration. Then if people want to try playing around on a guitar and have questions I’ll have both my guitars there. It will be more of an introduction to guitar, because it takes a lot longer then one lesson for many people to be able to get the hang of it. But it should be fun and hopefully encourages people to begin their guitar journey.
Young Voices – Music and Songwriting for Kids and Youth lead by Laura Gallant from the music group Arbuta - Music | Arbuta - https://arbuta.bandcamp.com/
DJ Lessons – with the one and only Wallah. Limited Space
