Jacob Morris
A self taught chef, hobby farmer and beekeeper, Jacob learnt his culinary skills in the Bistros and Gastro Pubs of Great Britain, preparing delicious home cooked meals using the best local produce. After moving to Canada his passion was sapped by the commercial kitchens of North America. This was when his focus shifted towards more ethical and environmentally conscious cuisine. Now after 2 years away from the grill, he has developed a new found passion for food security, farm to table cuisine and outdoor open fire cooking, particularly at intentional gatherings and festivals.
"I love to cook with local produce and ethically sourced ingredients, I also love to dumpster dive at every opportunity! I always use to over complicate my dishes with too many flavours, now I focus on simple home cooking that lets the ingredients speak for themselves. I believe that the most important ingredient in any meal is love, the rest is easy. Feeding amazing people wholesome local food in beautiful settings is my passion, I look forward to filling your bellies, hearts and minds at this years Praxis!
Peace and love xoxo''

The first job I ever worked was for my dad, hauling weeds and rocks from the garden. In my family it was a given that you’d have a small garden plot, pack your own lunches and cook dinner once a week but around 9. The first job where I actually got a pay stub was the only vegan and organic restaurant in Guelph, at the time.
My accumulated experience includes a handful of organic, vegan cafes, as well as a summer camp kitchen, under chefs at a butcher shop, and currently a Mexican tapas bar. I’ve also been in the Solstice Reunion Festival kitchen for 5 consecutive years. I’m pretty sure it’s an addiction, this working with food thing. Aside from the effect of honing my food handling and baking skills, working with food around people who care about where it comes from, in team-oriented environments has socialized me. That leads me to picture myself as a tiny feral kitten….which isn’t that far off for anyone who’s known me long enough. All of this experience has lead me to take pride in the work that I do, and take a leadership role where there is one to fill.
I look forward to feeding yall some luscious, fresh and local food, learning from each other, and bouncing to booty beats alongside the rhubarb!
